How to productively utilise solar?

The simple math of it all is that everyone with a power bill pays xx amount per kwh, let's say 20c. Utilising the solar as its being generated is basically saving you 20c for every kwh you use while its being made. So to bring it all down to a single statement, use as much power as you can during the day. Because once the sun is down, you are buying your power at full price. Simple things like timers for pool pumps, washing machines and dishwashers are all ways to maximise savings with solar.

How are energy bills and solar power measured?

All power as we need to discuss with our customers is measured in Kilowatt hours (KWH). A kilowatt is a measurement of power and a kilowatt hour is how much power is used over time. So, dependent on how much power an appliance uses and how long said appliance is running for will determine how many kwh's it uses.
1 kilowatt = 1000 watts

How does solar energy work?

Solar energy works by using photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electricity. The PV cells are made of semiconductor materials like silicon that absorb photons from the sun, which generates an electrical current. This electrical current is then used to power your home or business.

How much will solar save me on electricity costs?

The amount of money that a homeowner in Australia can save on their electricity bills by installing a solar panel system will vary depending on several factors, including the size of the system, the amount of electricity used by the home, the cost of electricity from the local utility, and the amount of sunlight that the panels receive. On average, homeowners can expect to save between $500 and $1,500 per year. Solar PV is a long-term decision that will generally pay you back 3-4 times what you invested over a 15+ year period.

Do I need direct sunlight to generate solar power?

While direct sunlight is ideal for generating solar power, it is possible to generate electricity even on cloudy days. The amount of electricity generated will depend on the amount of sunlight that is available.

Can I still generate solar power at night?

No, solar panels require sunlight to generate electricity. During the night, the panels will not produce electricity. However, you can store the electricity generated during the day in batteries for use at night.

How long does a solar panel system last?

A well-maintained solar panel system can last for 25-30 years or more. The panels themselves typically have a lifespan of around 20-25 years, while the other components like inverters and batteries can last for up to 10 years or more.

How much maintenance is required for a solar panel system?

Solar panel systems require very little maintenance. The panels themselves are designed to be low-maintenance and durable, while the other components like inverters and batteries should be checked regularly to ensure they are working properly.
